Free Parking in Dudley this Christmas
11 december 2023
Dudley Council has announced free parking in the town centre this December.
In a bid to foster a festive shopping atmosphere and to support local businesses during the holiday season, Dudley Council have announced that shoppers can enjoy free parking on the Saturdays leading up to Christmas in Council-ran car parks throughout the Dudley borough.
As part of the initiative, the Council will waive parking fees on all of its car parks on Saturday 16th, and Saturday 23rd December, providing an incentive for residents and shoppers to explore the town centre.
Unlike the usual 'Pay and Display' routine, no tickets will be required on the dates. The free parking will remain in effect for the entire day, with normal charges resuming at 7AM on the following day.
Councillor Damian Corfield, the Cabinet Member for Highways and Environmental Services, expressed his enthusiasm for continuing the tradition,
"It's a tradition to have free parking in our town centres in the run-up to Christmas, and I'm pleased we're able to offer it again this year.
"We offer two-hour free parking all year round, but we hope by extending it to two full days on council-run car parks, on some of the busiest Christmas shopping days of the year, shoppers will be encouraged to stay for longer and support local businesses."
Dudley Council currently run four car parks in Brierly Hill, seven in Dudley Town Centre, four in Halesowen, two in Kingswinford, and four in Stourbridge.
This move is anticipated to attract a large crowd to the heart of Dudley Borough, providing a welcome boost to retailers and fostering a sense of community engagement during the festive season.
With the extended free parking hours, shoppers are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to explore the diverse range of shops and services available in Dudley's vibrant town centres.
