Microsoft reportedly lays off 1900 Xbox Gaming Employees

Microsoft is reportedly cutting 1900 jobs at Xbox Gaming, and Activision Blizzard this coming month.
The cut of 1900 jobs impacts 9% of Microsoft's Xbox Gaming department, which employs an estimated 22,000 employees, according to The Guardian.
An internal memo, obtained by The Verge, reveals that Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer confirms the 1900 job cuts.
In the memo, Mr Spencer said "It's been a little over three months since the Activision, Blizzard, and King teams joined Microsoft.
"As part of this process, we have made the painful decision to reduce the size of our gaming workforce by approximately 1900 roles out of the 22,000 people on our team.
"The Gaming Leadership Team and I are committed to navigating this process as thoughtfully as possible."
Other tech companies, including Discord, have reportedly recently made job cuts to their workforce.
The job cuts will impact creators behind leading video games such as Overwatch 2.
Microsoft completed its acquisition of Activision and Blizzard last October, following 20 months of legal battles with gaming regulators in the UK and USA.
