Overwatch 2 World Cup returns for 2023

The much anticipated Overwatch 2 World Cup kicks off, with exclusive Twitch drops for gamers.
This years Overwatch 2 World Cup promises to be different from previous years. The event, which takes place between October 29th to November 4th, will take a different approach to previous years Blizzard has announced.
Blizzard Entertainment, which owns the battle game, has stated "For the first time in Overwatch history, we will be crowdfunding the World Cup prize pool with an exciting slate of skins and other in-game cosmetics over the coming months."
The e-sports event, which first started in 2016, sees top e-sports players form around the world compete for glory. The event consists of the top 16 teams have been split into four groups, which will compete in a round robin gauntlet to determined the eight teams that will proceed to the finals.
The first match takes place on October 29th at 6PM, with Great Britain VS Canada. Team GB, which consists of Britain's best Overwatch players, includes: FunnyAstro, BackBone, Kai, Kronus, SMEX, Jkaru19, and Wmaimone. Team GB, who are also known as team 'Spitfire', has competed in the competition before, ranking 4th in 2018.
As with other events in Overwatch 2, Blizzard Entertainment announced that there will be limited edition in-game rewards for gamers viewing the tournament.
The finals of the tournament, are due to take place between November 3rd and 4th.
